Why
include parents?
- Greater insight into behaviors, triggers, and
effective resolutions
- There may additional services in the home
or at school that we can also benefit from
- It creates a collaborative approach
(teamwork, trust, consistency)
- Parent contact information (along with any
other workers)
- When this parent would want or would need
to be contacted during service (ex. if child becomes physically aggressive or
self-injurious)
- Target behaviors (ex. Running away,
physical aggression, difficulty with transitions)
- Potential triggers (ex. Loud music,
another child/sibling)
- Anything parents or workers have found to
be effective in dealing with target behaviors (ex. Prepping child for
transitions 5 minutes before, 2 minutes before, and 1 minute before, using
visual schedule, positive reinforcer of a snack every time child makes it
through class without running away)
